Announcements

Hi everyone!

The hatch will be closed next Tuesday morning 11th February, and Friday morning 14th February.

It will reopen on both afternoons at 15:30.

Hi Everyone!

YOU CAN NOW EDIT and/or RENEW YOUR BOOKINGS!!

If, after your booking starts, you find that you require resources for longer, you may click the RENEW button on your booking, and that will add an extra 2 days to your booking, but only if the resources in your booking are still available to borrow!

This option is only available during your original booking window, the system will not renew an order after your original return time.

You may renew a booking twice in a row.

You must then return everything to the hatch for audit, where our staff will scan your items, and make a new booking for you, if required.

Bookings may be made up to 4 weeks in advance.

Hi everyone!

When you come to collect your equipment loan at the hatch, please double-check that you have everything you need before you leave.

You may need a power cable or IEC cable for items such as amps, speakers, cameras, or audio interfaces, so please include that in your order.

If you'd like help deciding what equipment to reserve, ask one of our staff members, who would be happy to advise!

Policies

Current staff and registered students* of MTU Cork School of Music wishing to borrow AV Tech equipment may do so subject to the conditions outlined in this document.

Conditions

1. The equipment is provided for MTU CSM-related projects & portfolio work only. Equipment may not be borrowed for private and/or commercial use.

2. As a general rule, AV Tech equipment will only be made available to current staff and student* users at MTU Cork School of Music

3. Guest users must request written approval from the Head of School / Department, who will, if appropriate, submit an equipment loan request to the AV Technician on the guest’s behalf

4. Equipment loans will only be issued subject to equipment availability, and the user’s proven track record of reliability – i.e. timely collections and returns/maintenance and care of equipment loans.

5. Users are not permitted to make either permanent or temporary changes to the function, use, or appearance of AV Tech equipment, including the application or removal of adhesives

6. Users must advise AV tech staff of faulty, lost, or damaged equipment, preferably by email, as soon as the fault/loss/damage is incurred or observed. If it is deemed helpful or necessary, AV tech staff may request a meeting with the user to assist in further investigating the issue, which the user is obliged to attend.

7. MTU CSM Users who inflict malicious/intentional damage to equipment or intentionally engage in behaviour likely to cause damage to equipment will incur the cost of repair and/or like-for-like replacement of the same equipment and may be subject to prosecution.

8. Guest users who accidentally or otherwise cause damage to equipment will incur the cost of repair and/or like-for-like replacement of the same equipment. In the case of malicious or intentional damage, they may be subject to prosecution.

Hygiene and Sanitisation

Please ensure you take personal responsibility to clean/sanitise each element of your equipment loan before you use it and to sanitise it again before checking back in at the AV Tech Store hatch. Only use IPA (isopropyl alcohol) wipes to sanitise AV Tech Equipment. Do not use any other form of gel or cleaning spray/liquid under any circumstance. These wipes are available in all classrooms and studios, at the CSM AV Tech Store Hatch, or at the CSM Helpdesk.

Lending Periods

Please note that the AV Tech store will provide equipment on short-term loans only. Ideally, equipment will be returned during store hours, the day of or the day following check-out.
However, some equipment items may be borrowed for up to four successive days. Any further extension of the above terms may be agreed upon, in advance, with the on-duty AV Technician, pending equipment availability and the user’s proven track record of reliability. Lending periods may change, without notice, throughout the year, depending on demand and subsequent availability.

Liability

The individual requesting an equipment loan is responsible for its safe return. This applies in all instances, e.g. if one borrows equipment on behalf of a group of colleagues or classmates. Asking someone else to return equipment on your behalf is not recommended, but if it is necessary to do so to fulfil the conditions of your equipment loan, please note that you remain liable for all equipment checked out in your name until it has been safely returned it and checked back in at the AV Tech store.

Collection/Returns

Equipment loans must be checked out from the hatch at the AV Tech Store at the agreed date and time, no later nor earlier.
Equipment loans must be returned to the hatch at the AV Tech Store, and checked back in, on or before the due date/time, in clean and working order, i.e. all accessories such as cables, cable ties, microphone clips,

camera mounts/baseplates, Mic cases, and so forth, are returned intact, and as intended to be used.
Any/all tape/adhesives must be removed from the cable before it is returned to the AV Tech store.
Cables must be coiled appropriately not to sustain damage and secured with the attached Velcro tie.
The user is responsible for ensuring that they have been issued all necessary equipment, including any required power or signal cable, before leaving the hatch at check-out.
Failure to return storage locker/room key(s) at the agreed date and time for any reason will incur an immediate suspension of lending rights until the key(s) has been returned/replaced, at the discretion of the AV Tech

staff on duty at the time. Repeated offences will incur additional sanctions (see condition 10 above)
Sub-Lending

Users may not, under any circumstances, lend AV Tech equipment to anyone else. Instead, check the equipment back in so another user can book it out in due course. Sanctions will be imposed upon any user who breaches this policy (see condition 10 above).

Feedback Procedure

The CSM AV Tech team welcomes constructive feedback, and where possible, will co-operate with CSM staff and students in relation to any queries, concerns, or suggestions about Equipment loans procedures or policies.
